Is there a way to know if/which file is currently being dragged rather than just dropped?

I am trying to look into the B83.Win32 file, but I have never dealt with any OS API.

Even simply whether the a file is being dragged would be great! It seems that the lParam.message detects mouse move/enter/leave, but not the content of the "mouse clipboard"?

Well, just about a week ago there was a similar question. Unfortunately Windows does not have any window messages for those kind of things. To get advanced drag and drop support you have to actually register a native OLE drop handler that implements the IDropTarget interface. This is by far more complex than just reacting to drop events. Also your handler needs to analyse what was actually dragged.

Do you know whether it is possible to access the "mouse cursor icon"? It changes from a simple arrow to an arrow with a plus below it. If I could distinguish between the two cursors, it would already go a long way.

From my admittedly cursory (heh) look, it seems that the cursor I'm looking for is in the OLE library, so we're back at the beginning.
