I propose to redesign the Bandhu mobile experience to make it inclusive for users with low digital literacy (migrant workers). Current flows rely heavily on text, which is a barrier. My focus will be on replacing text-heavy steps with Visual Cues, Large Icons, and Voice-guided navigation to ensure every worker can find a job independently.
Goals & Mid-Point Milestone
GOALS:
- Conduct a UI/UX Audit of the current Bandhu registration flow from a worker's perspective
.2. Design a standardized 'Universal Icon System' for labor-specific roles (e.g., plumbing, construction).
- Create a high-fidelity Figma prototype for a text-less job search journey.
MID POINTS MILESTONE:
.Completion of User Journey Mapping and Accessibility Audit Report.
.Low-fidelity wireframes for the new Icon-based navigation.
Setup/Installation
As a UI/UX project, the tools used will be Figma for design and prototyping, and WCAG 2.1 Guidelines for accessibility auditing. No technical code installation is required for this phase..
Expected Outcome
A detailed UI Audit Report (PDF).
An Interactive Figma Prototype optimized for low-literacy users.
A library of reusable icons and components for the Beckn ecosystem
Acceptance Criteria
The project will be considered successful when:
- Audit Report: A detailed UI/UX Audit (PDF) identifying at least 5-6 critical usability barriers for low-literacy users.
- Visual Design System: A library of 15+ custom 'Universal Icons' representing different labor roles and actions.
- Interactive Prototype: A high-fidelity Figma prototype showing the end-to-end user journey (Login to Job Application) with a 'Visual-First' approach.
- Accessibility Pass: All designs must meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards for color contrast and touch-target sizes.
Implementation Details
Research: Identifying "Pain Points" in the current app.
Design: Creating a "Visual-First" design language.
Testing: Iterating designs based on mentor feedback.
Mockups/Wireframes
