Hello,

When i open distance there is no problem, but after import my data, when i want to finish, my computer try to instal something, and i search the proplusWW.mis document.

Did you just recently install Distance, or is this a problem that has existed for some time? What version of Distance are you using? It appears it might be version 6 of Distance, true?

If you are using Distance 6, I suggest you update to a more current version of Distance version 7.3. This might solve your problem.

Hello, I try with the last version of distance (i try to reload 3 times) and with the 7.3 too (3 times also). This problem appear at the begining. Constance Blary.

One more item that may be helpful in diagnosis: does your computer have Microsoft Office installed on it before you installed Distance 7.3?

Laura I was able to duplicate this bug on my office computer with Distance 7.3 trying to open an archived (.zip) Distance project. See 2.5 minute video stored at this link:

what would cause Distance to want to invoke a Microsoft Office installer (Office 2010 for Constance and Office 2013 for me)?

If I let the Office installer carry on, I can't see that the installer actually does anything, but when it finishes, Distance 7.3 happily loads the project I was trying to work with.

Nevertheless, it is disquieting that Distance is invoking the Office installer.

Also I couldn't see your video @erex Secure Connection Failed warning.

So you get a message saying that a microsoft office component is not installed and then it tries to install it (although you are not convinced it is actually doing anything)? This only happens when trying to open zipped projects? Does it happen again if you try to open the same or another archived project after you have been through the initial possible installation attempt? And everything works fine after it has been through these steps?

OK, insecure connection. Github won't accept MP4 file uploads, so can't come up with way to send the video to you.

The request to install occurred with any project I tried to open (whether archived or not) until I allowed the installer to have its way. Once the installer did whatever it did, there was no further installer requests; I could open whatever projects I wished.

This is behaviour that did not occur when we were preparing August workshop materials. I have Distance project files on my machine that were edited in late July 2019. No installer issues in July. I gather something may have occurred during a Windows update between July and now. That's my best guess.

@constanceblary so just to check you were doing something a bit different when you got the warning to start with, you were trying to close your project after importing the data? Or did this appear during the data import? Then you later said that this problem appeared at the beginning, did you get this error later again when you tried to open a project?

@erex right so nothing changed on your system with regards to the Distance installation since this behaviour has started occuring (or at least nothing that you have actively done)? Hmm, you are both running different versions of office too... but it does look like similar fixes were issues for both version on the same day.
