History is not usable due to commits directly to main

As developer I cannot see anything.

Use github wiki or github pages.
Main branch is not scratchpad.

I want to take a look at history to find a first commit that touches code and I cannot find one.

Hi, for the record I open my PR's from my fork of hdmapping : https://github.com/[mwlasiuk/HDMapping](https://github.com/mwlasiuk/HDMapping).

Regarding the history of this repository I fully agree. Maybe using squash commits from PR's to main would simplify this case (instead of doing merge commits ???).

Regarding the wiki : I think it would be great improvement to the HDMapping to intoduce wiki with usage examples and instructions but this requires someone to constantly monitor and update it - which is hard to achieve due to constant updates to the repo
