Community & Conduct

I want to make something clear regarding the way discussions are conducted in my repositories.

I am completely open to constructive criticism, technical feedback, bug reports, alternative implementations, and suggestions for improvement. You are absolutely welcome to disagree with my decisions or point out problems in my code.

What I do not accept, however, is personal or disrespectful commentary about me or other contributors.

Criticizing the software is perfectly fine. Attacking, belittling, or making dismissive assumptions about the person behind the software is not.

There is a real person behind every GitHub account, and you often don't know what someone may be dealing with outside of their work on a project. In my own case, there have been periods where personal and health circumstances have made it difficult for me to maintain my projects as actively as I would like. That should never be used as a reason to make personal judgments about me or my abilities.

I also use AI as a development tool. I am not ashamed of that, nor do I believe that using AI makes someone's work or contribution inherently less legitimate. Reasonable discussion about AI-assisted development is welcome; personal attacks or assumptions about someone's competence because they use AI are not.

I want my repositories to be places where people can collaborate, learn, contribute and have technical discussions without turning disagreements into personal attacks.

Constructive criticism is welcome. Personal attacks are not.

If someone repeatedly chooses to communicate in a disrespectful or personally insulting manner, I will not engage in an argument about it. I will simply block the account and, where appropriate, remove or report the offending content.

This isn't intended to discourage criticism or disagreement. Quite the opposite — I want people to tell me when something is wrong. I simply expect that criticism to remain focused on the project and the work, rather than becoming criticism of the person.

Please keep discussions respectful.
