Problem Description

• Are the hipFileReadAsync and hipFileWriteAsync APIs supported by the kfd_ais driver, and do they operate without using a bounce buffer?
• If they are supported, is there any fio engine or test case that can be used to verify the asynchronous functionality and measure its performance?

Are the hipFileReadAsync and hipFileWriteAsync APIs supported by the kfd_ais driver, and do they operate without using a bounce buffer?

Today the async APIs only support fallback (aka. slowpath), in the future we will add the fastpath support (rough ETA - 2nd half 2026). Note: We won't need to add any additional APIs to kfd_ais driver for this to work in the future.

If they are supported, is there any fio engine or test case that can be used to verify the asynchronous functionality and measure its performance?

In the future we will add enhancements to FIO to call the async (and batch) APIs.
