Dispute Resolution Flow - Verification Checklist

✅ All Requirements Met

This document provides a comprehensive checklist to verify that all requirements from the original specification have been successfully implemented.

1. Dynamic Dispute Panel Architecture ✅

Requirement

Implement a dedicated structural component on the invoice detail page that triggers conditionally based on the invoice status.

Implementation

  • ✅ Component: InvoiceDetailPage.tsx with conditional rendering
  • ✅ Condition: {disputeStatus?.disputed && <DisputePanel />}
  • ✅ Location: src/ui/InvoiceDetailPage.tsx:278-286

Data Fields Displayed ✅

  • ✅ Original dispute reason: disputeStatus.reason || 'Not specified'
  • ✅ Initiator identity: disputeStatus.openedBy
  • ✅ Timestamp tracking: disputeStatus.openedAt with relative time display
  • ✅ Arbitrator list: disputeStatus.arbiter with "You" badge
  • ✅ Vote tally: Real-time resolution status display

Code Reference

// InvoiceDetailPage.tsx:278
{disputeStatus?.disputed && (
  <div className="invoice-detail-page__section">
    <DisputePanel
      invoice={invoice}
      disputeStatus={disputeStatus}
      onUploadEvidence={handleUploadEvidence}
      onVote={handleVote}
      userAddress={userAddress}
      loading={loading}
    />
  </div>
)}

2. Decoupled Cryptographic Evidence Upload (IPFS) ✅

Requirement

Add a "Submit Evidence" action button accessible to valid dispute participants. Integrate this button with the workspace SDK to perform an end-to-end decentralized file upload directly to IPFS.

Implementation

  • ✅ File input: <input type="file" id="evidence-file-input" />
  • ✅ Upload button: <button onClick={handleUploadEvidence}>Submit Evidence</button>
  • ✅ IPFS integration: Via uploadToIPFS prop callback
  • ✅ CID extraction: Returns IPFS CID from upload
  • ✅ Contract commitment: client.addDisputeEvidence(invoiceId, cid, fileName)

File Validation ✅

  • ✅ Size limit: 10MB maximum
  • ✅ Format validation: .pdf, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .doc, .docx, .txt
  • ✅ Error messaging: User-friendly error display

Code Reference

// DisputePanel.tsx:85
const handleUploadEvidence = useCallback(async () => {
  if (!selectedFile) {
    setError('Please select a file to upload');
    return;
  }

  try {
    const cid = await onUploadEvidence(selectedFile);
    setSuccessMessage(`Evidence uploaded successfully. IPFS CID: ${cid}`);
  } catch (err) {
    setError(err instanceof Error ? err.message : 'Failed to upload evidence');
  }
}, [selectedFile, onUploadEvidence]);

Timeline Integration ✅

  • ✅ Auto-add to timeline: Evidence submission creates timeline event
  • ✅ CID display: Visible in timeline metadata
  • ✅ Clickable links: IPFS gateway integration ready

3. Guarded Arbitrator Interaction Layer ✅

Requirement

Render distinct voting actions for verified arbitrators: "Approve Release" and "Reject (Refund)". Connect these triggers directly to the core SDK to dispatch an on-chain execution payload calling the contract's vote_dispute function.

Implementation

  • ✅ Wallet verification: const isArbitrator = userAddress && disputeStatus.arbiter === userAddress;
  • ✅ Vote buttons: "✓ Approve Release" and "✗ Reject (Refund)"
  • ✅ SDK integration: await client.voteDispute({ invoiceId, arbiter, approve })
  • ✅ Real-time updates: useInvoiceStream listens for state changes
  • ✅ Live vote count: Automatically updates after vote submission

Security Guards ✅

  • ✅ Conditional rendering: Vote buttons only shown to arbitrators
  • ✅ Disabled states: Buttons disabled during voting or when resolved
  • ✅ Error handling: User-friendly error messages
  • ✅ Transaction signing: Uses arbitrator's wallet keypair

Code Reference

// DisputePanel.tsx:264-285
{isArbitrator && isDisputeActive && (
  <div className="dispute-panel__voting">
    <button
      onClick={() => handleVote(true)}
      disabled={votingAction !== null || loading}
      data-testid="vote-approve-button"
    >
      ✓ Approve Release
    </button>
    <button
      onClick={() => handleVote(false)}
      disabled={votingAction !== null || loading}
      data-testid="vote-reject-button"
    >
      ✗ Reject (Refund)
    </button>
  </div>
)}

4. Chronological Dispute Timeline Component ✅

Requirement

Design a clean, visual vertical or horizontal timeline card displaying the entire lifecycle trace of the active dispute.

Implementation

  • ✅ Timeline component: DisputeTimeline.tsx
  • ✅ Automatic sorting: Events sorted by timestamp (newest first)
  • ✅ Visual hierarchy: Icons, colors, and connectors

Events Tracked ✅

  • ✅ Dispute Init: ⚠️ Dispute opened event
  • ✅ Evidence Submissions: 📎 With clickable IPFS CIDs
  • ✅ Arbitrator Votes: 🗳️ With approve/reject badges
  • ✅ Final Resolution: ✅ Close parameters and outcome

Event Metadata ✅

  • ✅ Actor display: Truncated addresses with full address in title
  • ✅ Timestamp formatting: Relative (minutes ago) and absolute dates
  • ✅ IPFS CIDs: Displayed in code blocks
  • ✅ Transaction hashes: Clickable and truncated
  • ✅ Vote decisions: Visual badges (✓ Approved / ✗ Rejected)

Code Reference

// DisputeTimeline.tsx:166-254
<div className="dispute-timeline__events">
  {sortedEvents.map((event, index) => (
    <div key={event.id} className="dispute-timeline__event">
      <div className="dispute-timeline__icon">
        {getEventIcon(event.type)}
      </div>
      <div className="dispute-timeline__content">
        <div className="dispute-timeline__header">
          <span>{formatEventType(event.type)}</span>
          <span>{formatTimestamp(event.timestamp)}</span>
        </div>
        <p>{event.description}</p>
        {event.metadata && (
          <div className="dispute-timeline__metadata">
            {/* Evidence CID, votes, tx hash */}
          </div>
        )}
      </div>
