How to preserve line breaks from orignal query?

is there a way to preserve original line breaks when creating a SQL string from parsed AST?

Unfortunately, there is no way I know of to preserve the original breaks / line spacing. They are not represented in the AST structures

i see, thats reasonable. the usecase i had was sending a modified query to a SQL engine. when the query has an error it will return a wrong line number

@alamb what if ast stored the line,char ? and on converting to string we can have an option to ignore or apply line breaks?

This is a long requested feature (for example, see #757 from @ankrgyl )

It would be great to find some way forward that didn't cause massive pain in downstream crates
