All arrays are passed by reference. They cannot be passed by value.

Can you post a sample code
replicating the problem?

EDIT: I guess you mean something like this:

SUB test(ByRef x As UInteger)
  LET x = x + 1   
END SUB

DIM a(1) As UInteger = { 2, 3 }

test(a(0))
PRINT a(0); " "; a(1) : REM Should output 3 3
