Budget estimation

We mainly need to fund speakers from under-represented communities. This estimation is for our sponsorship goals; when in doubt, over-estimate.

Assumptions:

• 13 speakers (assuming full day 9.30am-5pm, with 1 hour break, half an hour talks)
• 4 organisers
• of which 10 people need travel support (flights, 3 nights accommodation)
  • 5 from Europe
  • 5 from everywhere else
• of which 5 people need visa cost support

Calculations

• Return flights: Europe 300EUR pp, Asia/Africa/NAmerica/SAmerica: 1000EUR pp
• Accommodation: 70EUR pppn
• Visa: 60EUR pp
  TOTAL: (300 * 5) + (1000 * 5) + 70 + (70 * 3) *10 + 60 * 5 = ~9000EUR

This sounds good, but let's perhaps up the estimate to ~10,000 - looking at https://submission.fosdem.org/submission/devroom, days are between 7 to 8.5 hours long and no lunch breaks should be scheduled.

This means a minimum of 14 speakers in half-hour talk slots, but potentially up to 17.
