It might have been below, because the controls are supposed to be at the bottom (traditionally controls are below a video, not above). I find it more difficult to adjust the control and check the plot at the same time, than when I use time controls in a video. I had to shift attention consciously. Ideally, these controls would be at the bottom, in an adjacent area, not overlapping the plot itself (otherwise there is always the risk to hide something)
