Switch language button constantly grayed out

for some reason the switch languages button (in the middle) is always grayed out and I can't click it to perform the action

In this case (looks like DeepL), DeepL has different language codes for source and destination, for example for English they have en for source and en_US +en_GB for destination. To know if you can switch languages, Dialect checks if both languages are available in the opposite language lists, so in this case en_US (American English) is not a valid source language.

I guess we can improve this by adding a bit more of complexity to the switch logic.
