what is the development environment?

could someone provide the both of the hardware requirement and software requirement for the development?

if there is a standard guideline for the integration?

Hi Jacky:

For the software, we recommend that you use Ubuntu 14.04 running on x86 cpu for development bed, and the binaries would run on x86 cpu or arm cpu according to your compiling.
Also, we need some tools line build-essential, cmake, automake, autoconf for building.
And I'll sync up with our HW engineer to add more info.

I can recompile the RMM code with a cross-compiler for ARM-based CPU.

Could you provide some reference info that I can have a try to figure out how it works?
I would like to know the RMM HW info, what the SW environment is, and what the standard procedure to launch the RMM service(s).

Before HW engineer provides the HW info, could you help to provide the SW portions, first?

Hi Jacky:

After finished building the software, you may find the tarball in build/release/ directory if you used rmm_release.sh in utils to generate. Then follow the commands below to install:

tar -xvf $tarball
cd $path
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
sudo service rmm start

Then you can see the status of RMM software with the following command:

sudo service rmm status

To uninstall RMM software, you may refer to the following commands:

sudo service rmm stop
sudo dpkg --purge rsa-rmm-all
sudo dpkg --purge rsa-rmm-consolecontrol
sudo dpkg --purge rsa-rmm-api
sudo dpkg --purge rsa-rmm-base

You may find the webpage at ${ip_addr}:8090/v1/rack as the main entrance to the RESTful API.

You may refer to assetd_api.h to write an app to add some events for assetd, which would create nodes or update attributes of assets. Then you can see them in RESTful API via POSTman or browser.
It is recommended that you create CM(control module) first, then PowerZone, ThermalZone, DrawerZone, then PSUs, Fans, and Drawers.

Hi Benima,

to simply the test, I just test the code with a x64 ubuntu VM.

I installed the deb files and run the service command: sudo service rmm start.
it shows nothing while launching the command.

I found there is no /usr/local/bin/asset_module after the .deb files installation.

please help to confirm that.

Hi Jacky:

It should have shown the app name list in the deb packages while starting the rmm services.
We won't provide the asset_module source code since it's the demo code and under Intel IP protection.
So you may write your own asset_module like others with the api in assetd_api.h to provide json rpc request for assetd, such as cm creation, power zone creation. Then assetd would create nodes in memdb.
Logs would be in /var/log for debugging, And log level would be in /etc/rmm/rmm.cfg for configurations.

And we would have a debug on this case if the RMM software will run OK without asset_module.

We were focus on other issues, so we had a late response.
We have discussed on this case and would take actions on this issue:
First, we would update the document for the building with instructions of how to build your own asset module.
Later, we would release the asset module demo code in the next release.
