Bug description

each OS worked fine at the start, recognized all hardware, communicated with Lenovo fwupd site; but after 2-5mins, although the cursor still moved, no key or button did anything (except for the power button to turn the machine off). In some of these cases, I found a panic message from Cinnamon, just indicating a crash.

Steps to reproduce

Nothing special about my machine; 64GB memory, 1TB SSD, dual booted with Windows after shrinking its partition. I installed Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.2, then when it kept freezing, I replaced it with Linux Mint LMDE 7 and got the same behavior. Never took long, perhaps 5mins max., not under computational load. Manifested with focus on a web page or on a window or on the background. Since all onboard devices were properly recognized and set up (touchpad, rubber nipple, fingerprint scanner, camera, etc.), this issue should be easily reproducible, esp. given that it does not arise under Ubuntu.
N.B. I cannot reproduce messages as the only action left to me each time was powering off by holding down the power button.

Expected behavior

Prior to the panic, everything worked very well. I reproduced the problem 7-8 times with "classical" Mint and 5-6 times with LMDE. The expected behavior was to be able to continue providing inputs to the OS ;-)

Additional information

This is on a Gen 6 Thinkpad with Ryzen AI Pro 7, with official Lenovo BIOS and patches (through fwupd) as of 12/14/2025.
