Installation

Requirements

  • Java 25 or newer for the server; installed Oracle JDK 25 for source builds and Oracle JDK 27 for automated tests and the maintained test server
  • Paper 26.3 build 175 STABLE
  • BlueMap
  • PlotSquared
  • Optional: Multiverse-Core for world management in multi-world server setups

The plugin compiles against io.papermc.paper:paper-api:26.3.build.175-stable and targets Java 25 bytecode. It compiles against com.intellectualsites.plotsquared:plotsquared-core:7.6.0.

Build From Source

The helper runs ./gradlew --no-daemon clean build docsCheck. Both commands discover installed Oracle JDK 25 and 27 using macOS java_home and validate their actual versions, vendor, and compilers. Gradle 9.8.2 and compilation use Oracle 25; automated tests and their child JVMs use Oracle 27. All plugin and test sources compile with --release 25. JDK downloads and automatic Gradle JDK discovery are disabled, so missing or mismatched installations stop the build.

Patch upgrades need no path edits. To select specific installed homes, use PLOTMARKERS_BUILD_JAVA_HOME and PLOTMARKERS_TEST_JAVA_HOME (with ONE_MB_BUILD_JAVA_HOME and ONE_MB_TEST_JAVA_HOME as fallback aliases). The selections must still be Oracle 25 and 27 respectively.

Install the shaded jar:

build/libs/1MB-PlotMarkers-v2.0.4-033-j25-26.3.jar

Do not install the thin jar unless you are intentionally managing the shaded dependencies yourself.

Deployment target

The former shared test server at /Users/floris/MinecraftServer/test-1mb-3.14-mc-26.3/ no longer exists (confirmed 2026-10-25). No replacement shared-server destination is designated. Future shared-server deployments need a current destination supplied by the user; do not recreate the old directory. Paths and receipts in docs/releases/ describe historical deployments and remain unchanged.

The repository-local servers/Paper-26.3-stable/ fixture remains available for isolated verification. The installation steps below apply once a destination server has been identified.

Server Install

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Install or update BlueMap and PlotSquared.
  3. Copy 1MB-PlotMarkers-v2.0.4-033-j25-26.3.jar into plugins/.
  4. Remove older PlotMarkers jars from the top-level plugins/ folder.
  5. Start the server.
  6. Confirm the log contains marker creation lines such as:
[PlotMarkers] Created 1 POI marker for plotsq.
[PlotMarkers] Created 1 shape marker for plotsq.
  1. Run /plotmarkers status and /plotmarkers debug to confirm integrations and compiled release metadata.
  2. Open BlueMap and check the Plots and Shapes marker sets.

For a separate plot world on Paper 26.1 or newer, place its data under the primary save folder and import its namespaced key. For example, with level-name=spawn and a builders world at spawn/dimensions/minecraft/builders/:

/mv import minecraft:builders normal --generator PlotSquared

Restart once after the import, then confirm /mv info minecraft:builders reports World Name: builders and Generator: PlotSquared.

Updating

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Back up plugins/PlotMarkers/config.yml if you have custom settings.
  3. Replace the old PlotMarkers jar with the new jar.
  4. Start the server.
  5. Review the startup log for PlotMarkers warnings.

PlotMarkers adds missing config defaults without overwriting existing per-world settings.
