Feature Request: Setting for auto-pan when selecting BOM row

It would be nice to have a toggleable feature to automatically pan and zoom out (if necessary) the PCB when selecting a row in the BOM. This would help reduce the number of interactions required when doing a board population. I found that I occasionally have to zoom in on a particularly dense part of a board, but then the next row's parts are off the edge and I have to manually zoom back out to find them.

I can keep this as a wishlist but keep in mind, I played around with such a thing before and it didnt work well in practice. Sometimes you want it to zoom out, sometimes to pan, sometimes both. But then it zooms out too much and you have to zoom in again. It doesnt save much mouse work.

With a large dense board your best bet is to get a monitor large enough to not need to zoom.

Yeah, I do know it's hard to read the mind of the user and know exactly what they would want.

An alternative idea I had was an "off-screen pointer" at the edges of the board view to give an indication of which direction the off-screen component(s) are. Akin to the way some video games show off-screen dangers / directional damage indicators on the HUD.
