Is there an equivalence for the Ruby method Resource.attributes which return an Hash representation of the object?

Is there an equivalence for the Ruby method Resource.attributes which return an Hash representation of the object?
I want to have cast a resource as a dict/JSON
I see that I can use Resource.dict but I wonder if there is a more proper way for that.
