Ports the frontend half of the multi-PR review work from ReverbCode.
Stacking note: this branch is based on the backend multi-PR review work in #2192. Because the backend base branch is only on the fork, this upstream PR targets main and will show backend commits until #2192 lands or the branch is retargeted/rebased.
