Akreon is an independent open-source research and education project focused on optimization and computational methods for complex systems. Maintained by David Akre, it connects mathematical theory, numerical methods, working software, and engineering education.
This repository contains the static Jekyll website at akreon.ai. Research software repositories are available through Akreon on GitHub.

Install Ruby and Bundler compatible with Gemfile.lock, then run:
bundle install
bundle exec jekyll serveTo validate a change with a static build:
bundle exec jekyll buildGenerated output is written to ignored _site/. Edit source pages rather than generated output. Check navigation, internal links, page metadata, and responsive layout after changing public pages.
Keep optimization central. Explain mathematical assumptions, numerical methods, implementation decisions, reproducibility, and limitations. Distinguish experimental work from validated capabilities; describe maturity using evidence from the relevant repository.
Use Software, Research (/library/), About, and GitHub as the main navigation. Home explains the research mission and open-source software; About introduces Akreon and its maintainer. Code and live software documentation belong on GitHub. Keep research notes, videos, notebooks, external references, and papers in the Library. Use external_url in post front matter for an external artifact.
Corrections, clearer derivations, reproducibility reports, and improvements to examples are welcome through repository issues and pull requests. For software reports, include versions, dependencies, a minimal example, and expected and observed behavior. Link software-specific build instructions, benchmarks, architecture, references, and contribution guidance from the relevant software repository rather than assuming this website supplies them.

The existing MIT license and its CloudCannon copyright notice are unchanged. Rendered technical notebooks contain their own copyright and usage notices, including “No license is granted except as permitted by law or written agreement.” Review the scope of those notices and the repository license before treating notebook material as openly licensed. This positioning update does not relicense any material. Software repositories have their own license terms.
