gradlew was stored with CRLF line endings and mode 100644. On macOS/Linux execution fails with "bad interpreter: /bin/sh^M". Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

against drip-hardening branch as it had latest fixes but can rebase on top of main too
