docs: the off-host mirror is unscheduled, and both docs now say so - #147
Conversation
ADR-0024 chose an hourly systemd timer on the Pi and the runbook described one. The timer was never installed: it would have had to live in the owner's own ~/ops tree rather than in a company repository, that write is sanctioned per case, and the request was declined. Everything else in ADR-0024 shipped - the transport, the mirror at mode 700, per-file sha256 verification, the no-propagated-deletions rule - so the decision stands with its schedule half marked not installed rather than being rewritten. The runbook mattered more than the record here: a reader who believes an hourly tick is running reads `lag` as a health signal, when with no schedule it is simply the mirror's age and grows by one snapshot every six hours until a person runs a tick. Nothing watches this pull, so `--status` is the only signal and the page now says that where it used to promise an alert. These passages still imply that a timer is installed or has run, despite the documented unscheduled state. Clarify that the timer is intended design only, and direct operators to manual status checks.

Describe lag as source-relative, not as mirror age.
scripts/pull-snapshots.sh do_status (Lines 333-375) computes lag from the newest source and local snapshot timestamps. It reports each snapshot's wall-clock age separately. If both stop advancing, lag can remain 0s even when both snapshots are old. Say that lag measures how far the mirror is behind the newest source snapshot, and direct readers to the local newest age for wall-clock age.

The runbook matters more than the record here. It told a reader that
lagunder an hour means a working mirror and that a broken tick raises~/ops/ALERT. With nothing scheduled, lagis simply the mirror's age - it grows by one snapshot every six hours until a person runs a tick - and no alert exists at all. Believing you have a current off-host backup when you do not is the exact failure class this whole subject exists to remove, so the page now says--statusis the only signal.Measured while writing this: one day unattended put the mirror 4 snapshots behind; a manual tick brought it back to
lag 0s, 29 snapshots, 137M.Files
