WalkthroughOrder search now uses FTS for eligible searches with at least three characters, excluding control characters. Phone searches query raw text and may also query normalized digits. Customer phone and name matching and the UDF candidate filter remain in place. API tests cover punctuated order numbers and control-character queries. ChangesOrder search

- Line 678: Update the hasControlChars check so search strings containing tab,
newline, carriage return, or DEL are treated as ineligible for FTS MATCH and use
the UDF fallback. Add an embedded-tab API probe that verifies this fallback
path.

[Medium impact] Order search query logic and punctuation handling. The search changes appear sound, but the test comments must meet the repository’s explicit rule before merging. Findings

Intent
Preserve order-number punctuation in FTS search and handle embedded NUL
What Changed
orders_search_ftsmatching instead of using stripped phone digits during numeric searches.[\x00-\x1F\x7F]), including embedded NUL bytes, from FTS eligibility to fall back safely to SQLite UDF scanning.tests/orders-search-api.test.tscovering hyphenated and punctuated order numbers, partial numeric matches, embedded NUL bytes, and control characters.Risk Assessment
✅ Low: The change is well-bounded and minimal, correctly preserving order-number punctuation in FTS search queries and falling back safely to UDF evaluation for embedded NUL and ASCII control characters.
Testing
Stood up the FloCafe Express API server on port 3456 with an isolated SQLite database and seeded test orders and customers; exercised all 6 functional and adversarial scenarios via live HTTP requests to /api/orders?search=..., executed targeted repository test suites (orders-search-api, orders-search, and orders-search-performance at 300k scale), and generated JSON, Markdown, and rendered HTML evidence reports in the evidence directory. Since this change modified backend search query construction in main/routes/orders.ts rather than UI components, reviewer-visible visual evidence was captured via a styled HTML execution report rendering live API requests and response bodies.

main/routes/orders.ts:694- The change introduces an unrequired secondary matching branch (if (phoneDigits !== search && phoneDigits.length >= 3)) that executes a dual MATCH query (orders_search_fts MATCH ? OR orders_search_fts MATCH ?) using bothftsOrderSearchand strippedftsPhoneSearch. The user intent ('Preserve order-number punctuation in FTS search and handle embedded NUL') is fully satisfied by queryingorders_search_ftswithftsOrderSearch(the raw query preserving punctuation). Becauseorders_search_ftsonly indexesorder_number(phone numbers are queried againstcustomers), any candidate matched solely byftsPhoneSearchwhose order number does not containsearchis discarded byudfClauseunless its customer matched (which is already retrieved viaorders.customer_id IN (SELECT id FROM customers ...)). As a simplification, the branch, ftsPhoneSearch, and duplicate candidate SQL clause can be removed, unifyingisPhoneSearchto queryorders_search_ftswithftsOrderSearchalone.🔧 Fix applied.
