Closing: this project deliberately stays on Gradle 8.x / ForgeGradle 6.x — the documented toolchain for MC 1.20.1. Gradle 9 breaks the build (by project delegate becomes an error). Dependabot is now configured to ignore this major bump. See the toolchain note in dependabot.yml.
