Step 4 of RFC-013: an artist's portrait chosen from a Deezer search that the server makes and previews.

What it does

• Two tables (20261024000000_artist_image_search.sql): artist_image_search (per artist and query, complete, expires_at) and artist_image_candidate (Deezer's order, id, name, fans, preview hash). A check ties complete to expires_at.
• GET /api/v2/artists/{id}/image/candidates?q= is open to owners and managers only; anyone else gets 404.
  • It answers up to 20 Deezer artists, each with a preview the server fetched and holds, and no picture URL.
  • The search and every preview request keep enrichment's Deezer pace.
  • A hit with only Deezer's placeholder picture is not offered, nor one whose picture is not an image.
  • The same query, trimmed and case-folded, is answered from the stored search for an hour.
  • Other answers:
    • 429 while the account's previous search is still fetching;
    • 404 where Deezer is not configured, read at every call;
    • 422 for an empty query;
    • 503 when Deezer or a picture host cannot be reached.
• Searches outlive the request. The route records the search and hands the fetching to a task of its own, so a closed tab does not stop it.
  • The task runs under tokio::time::timeout_at, with a deadline of the recording time plus five minutes.
  • It ends with the search either completed or deleted.
  • The completing write checks the deadline again, inside its transaction, under the writer gate.
  • Boot deletes every incomplete search.
  • An incomplete search past its deadline neither counts for the 429 nor survives the sweep.
• PUT /api/v2/artists/{id}/image/portrait/deezer {deezer_id} accepts only an id that a live search of that artist offered.
  • It stores the candidate's preview with source = 'deezer', without fetching it again.
  • It answers 422 otherwise, and 404 once Deezer is off, even for a live search.
  • The read and the write happen in one transaction, under the gate.
• The sweep deletes spent searches, then unreferenced artwork, in one transaction, keeping the previews that candidates name.
  • artwork_for_user serves a preview to the owners and managers of the artist's library.
• Web client: a "Search Deezer" button next to "Change portrait".
  • It opens a native <dialog> that searches the artist's name as it opens.
  • The previews show as a grid, each with its name and fan count.
  • The dialog explains 404, 429 and an expired search (422).
• RFC wording amended:
  • previews are fetched at Deezer's big size (500 px), since a preview becomes the portrait;
  • a hit with a placeholder or non-image picture is skipped rather than failing the search;
  • preview rows are written when the search completes, so in-flight files are kept by the sweep's one-hour write grace.

ServiceError::Busy and ApiError::TooManyRequests (429, too_many_requests) are new. The candidates route lives in api::search_router, merged beside the ordinary API with a timeout just past the search deadline, since the ordinary 30 seconds would answer a 408 while the task went on. DomainServices::shorten_image_search_deadline lets a test see the deadline without waiting five minutes; it never lengthens it.

Tests

Nine integration tests were added to tests/enrichment.rs, against a fake Deezer that offers 24 artists, a placeholder picture and a picture that is not an image. Two unit tests cover the query key.

Inversions. Each protection was removed in turn, on a build that compiles, and the named test failed. The server has 21 inversions and the client 4; the list is below.

Not covered by a test:

• the deadline check inside the completing transaction, which needs the wall clock to pass the deadline while the task's deadline has not;
• the mapping of a foreign-key failure on the pick to 422.
