In other words, diff should respect content of .gitignore files across compared folders. This would greatly increase the readability of the comparison of two repositories when there will be no log, cache etc. files which are usually added to .gitignore.

Hi, the extension has the property l13Diff.exclude which you can use to exclude files and folders. I rejected the idea of using gitignore because it ends up in an order and race condition problem which rule is used first or not for includes.

Great extension. But I am also missing .gitignore support. I think you could just define that .gitignore applies last or something like that in rules.

Hi, the issue is way bigger. gitignore isn't just used on the first level of folders. You have to scan the whole structure twice. First find all gitignores and then construct a set of rules for the second scan. This can create conflicts with the exclude property and gitignore also supports includes. You can have also conflicts between two different .gitignores. This makes it even more complex because which comes first. The extension is a spare time project. Implementing something like this requires a lot of time.
