kube and k8s-openapi types appear in this crate's public API, so dependents can only move to kube 4 once k8s-controller does. The crate compiles unchanged against kube 4.2 and k8s-openapi 0.28. Its tests pass with v1_34 and the prometheus feature.

kube 4 parses YAML with serde-saphyr, which pulls in encoding_rs under (Apache-2.0 OR MIT) AND BSD-3-Clause, so deny.toml now allows BSD-3-Clause.

The version and CHANGELOG are left to release-plz. The commit is marked breaking (feat!: with a BREAKING CHANGE: footer). Without that marker, a local release-plz update proposes 0.13.1, and with it, the command proposes 0.14.0.

Materialize's kube 4 bump builds against this branch.

to make this easier for me to release, you can add the tag version here and update your toml/lock with 0.14.0

Done in b9c3830: CHANGELOG entry is now [0.14.0] - 2026-09-30, and Cargo.toml/Cargo.lock are at 0.14.0.

Superseded by the switch to release-plz (#56): the branch no longer touches the version or CHANGELOG. The commit is now marked breaking (feat!: plus a BREAKING CHANGE: footer), and a local release-plz update picks 0.14.0 from it (0.13.1 without the marker).

deny.toml now allows BSD-3-Clause.

BREAKING CHANGE: kube and k8s-openapi types appear in the public API, so
dependents must move to kube 4.2 and k8s-openapi 0.28.
