Cardbound is a playable RuneLite development plugin for a self-imposed OSRS card-locked mode. It builds its collectible catalogue from the live OSRS cache, awards credits on level-ups, sells themed five-card packs, and optionally blocks use of content until its card is unlocked.
This is a development build for human testing, not a Plugin Hub release. Disabling the plugin removes every restriction.
Cardbound was inspired by OSRS TCG, the RuneLite card-collection plugin created by Az/Azderi. OSRS TCG demonstrated how naturally earning credits, opening booster packs, growing a collection, and trading cards can fit around ordinary Old School RuneScape play. Cardbound is independently developed and is not affiliated with or endorsed by OSRS TCG or its creator.
Cardbound takes that inspiration toward a different central goal: a deeply customizable, self-imposed progression mode in which a collection can govern the account's route. Its current focus includes card-locked items and interactions, region/stage/quest/NPC/skilling pack families, input/output processing rules, quest-readiness planning, NPC and pet cards, Ironman-aware duplicate trading, optional GIM sharing, level-only credit progression, and presentation ranging from collection-only to Fully Cardbound.
Cardbound also used Bronzeman TCG's public documentation and BSD-2-licensed rule data as a reference during its granular activity-settings audit. Development uses substantial AI assistance across implementation, tests, documentation, research organization, and portions of the visual workflow. MisterTriangleMedia directs the project and remains accountable for what it publishes. See ACKNOWLEDGMENTS.md, BRONZEMAN_TCG_AUDIT.md, and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md for the full disclosures.
- 11,448 cards: 9,230 items, 2,095 combat NPCs/Slayer masters, and 123 pets.
- 58 repeatable packs: 46 regional, four quest, four NPC, and four skilling packs.
- One free 20-card Lumbridge/Misthalin Early starter pack per account.
- 206 Quest Helper quest and miniquest definitions in the readiness catalogue.
- Five distinct cards in every repeatable pack.
- Independent 1-in-32 Holo chance per card.
- Seven rarity tiers: grey Common, green Uncommon, blue Rare, purple Epic, pink Mythic, red Legendary, and gold Divine.
- 1-in-2,000 God Pack chance: five distinct Rare-or-higher cards, with at least one Mythic, Legendary, or Divine. Holo remains an independent per-card roll.
Live counts may change after an OSRS cache update. The shop and binder always show the runtime catalogue.
Locked items may be obtained, picked up, bought, moved, banked, deposited, offered, dropped, or destroyed. They are greyed in supported interfaces and cannot be used, equipped, eaten, drunk, activated, or otherwise benefited from until their card is unlocked.
Combat NPCs, Slayer masters, and pets have cards. Interaction is blocked while the relevant card is locked; Examine remains available. Quest and scripted rewards can enter the inventory normally but remain unusable while locked.
Meaningful processing variants remain separate cards, including raw/cooked/burnt foods, grimy/clean herbs, uncut/cut gems where the cache exposes them, and Godsword shards 1/2/3. Notes, placeholders, potion doses, ornament variants, and degraded/charged variants still resolve to their canonical gameplay card where RuneLite provides that mapping.
The Processing cards setting supports:
- Input card only: an unlocked raw/grimy/uncut input can be processed even if the resulting cards are missing; those outputs remain unusable until collected.
- Input + output cards: processing also requires every mapped output card, such as cooked and burnt versions.
Slayer masters have three rule settings: master card only, every currently Slayer-eligible task card, or the full configured task-list card set.
Cardbound now leads with a centered, step-by-step setup guide after Tutorial Island, while 65 user-facing RuneLite configuration options remain available as the advanced screen. Every option has a plain-language tooltip. Existing configuration keys were retained, and the old Super Rare notification value migrates to Epic instead of resetting silently.
Five presets cover the common rulesets:
- Collector: packs and collection progress without gameplay restrictions.
- Equipment locked: only Wear/Wield/Equip/Hold actions require cards.
- Equipment + teleports: equipment plus item-based Rub/Break/Teleport actions require cards.
- Fully Cardbound: every supported item, combat-NPC, pet, quest-item, processing, and Slayer rule is enforced.
- Custom: independent equipment, teleport, consumable, processing, quest-item, other-item, combat-NPC, pet, and Slayer controls.
Enforcement can block an action or warn without cancelling it. By default, all locks, credits, packs, and guided setup wait until Tutorial Island is complete. Tutorial supplies and an exact name/ID allowlist provide optional exceptions. Further controls cover GIM sharing, duplicate trading/selling, credit and pack-price scaling, Holo/God Pack odds, maximum batches and confirmations, lock-marker style, full/reduced/off animations, auto-reveal, rarity hints, reveal sounds, credit infobox/rate, pull notifications, chat color, and Safe mode.
Credits come only from real level increases. Level 2 awards 1,250 credits; later level rewards grow with the square root of the XP required for that level. Two early level-ups provide enough for the first large-pool regional pack. XP drops, PvM loot events, and the Grand Exchange do not directly award or influence credits.
Combat and non-combat levels use the exact same formula. Cardbound stores each skill level, total level, and total XP in the account's progress file. If levels were earned on mobile, the next desktop login pays the missing level milestones; mobile kills and XP that did not produce levels award nothing. The first v0.8.0 login establishes a baseline without paying an existing account retroactively.
Every credited level-up writes a RuneScape-style game message showing the earned credits. Mid, Late, and Endgame packs are recommended at total levels 750, 1,500, and 2,000. By default, buying early shows a dismissible warning instead of blocking the purchase; a hard total-level gate remains available as an optional challenge setting.
Normal duplicates can be bulk-sold by search text and selected rarities. The first owned copy and every Holo are preserved. Base values are Common 40, Uncommon 90, Rare 225, Epic 600, Mythic 1,500, Legendary 4,000, and Divine 10,000 credits.
Pack prices are dynamic: smaller pools cost more, larger pools cost less, and targeted Quest/NPC/Skilling packs carry a premium. See PACK_CATALOGUE.md for the exact current snapshot.
The Packs tab is now a clean launcher for a centered, borderless pack table over the game view. The table first shows four full rectangular collection paths, then reveals tier controls and the available packs. Every regional pack uses its own scene art; Quest, NPC, and Skilling use separate illustrated wrapper families. Exact prices and quantity controls remain visible, and purchases support 1, 5, 10, 25, or MAX affordable packs.
A single purchase brings a large wrapper into the center of the game. The player clicks RIP OPEN, the wrapper tears across its top seam, and face-down cards arrive in the center with a glow based on the hidden rarity. Cards flip individually or through Reveal All, and clicking a revealed card opens a larger borderless view. Holo and Epic-or-better flips have configurable RuneScape reveal sounds. Batch purchases use a centered summary.
Normal packs use two Common slots, one Uncommon slot, one 70% Uncommon / 30% Rare slot, and one weighted Rare-or-higher slot. God Packs turn all five slots blue-or-higher and guarantee at least one Mythic, Legendary, or Divine; they do not force Holo finishes.
The Binder supports search, ownership state, region, stage, rarity, card type, input/output/quest/skilling tags, and sorting by name, missing status, rarity, stage, or quantity. It can also open as a resizable five-column window. Clicking any card opens a large inspection view; dynamically fitted item sprites fill their safe artwork area without crossing the nameplate or footer. A selected duplicate can be sold for the exact displayed credit value or prepared for trade, and Sell All Duplicates remains available at Binder level.
The Quests tab supports:
- Search across quests and miniquests.
- Ready, card-ready, missing-card, incomplete, completed, quest-only, and miniquest-only filters.
- Missing-card filters for 0, 1–3, 4–10, and 11+.
- Sorting by fewest/most missing, game stage, or name.
- Exact
owned / totaland missing counts. A0/0quest has zero mapped cards missing;2/2also has zero missing;5/12has seven missing. - A detail screen with missing cards, all source item requirements, metadata that could not be matched to a card, skill requirements, prerequisite quests, and matched reward cards.
Quest metadata is generated from the BSD-2 licensed Quest Helper project. See QUEST_DATA_NOTICE.md. The readiness view is informational and never automates quest actions.
Only copies beyond the first owned card can be traded. Selling and trading are initiated from the Binder instead of separate cluttered tabs.
- Standard accounts: open duplicate trading to a named recipient.
- Group Ironman: trades are limited to the loaded GIM roster.
- Solo Ironman: trading is disabled.
GIM binder snapshots remain roster-verified. Imported teammate binders stay searchable, while the group unlock setting independently chooses personal cards only, teammate Holos, or every synced teammate card. Gift and binder sync codes are offline and checksummed for this prototype; they are manual honor-system records, can be forged by a determined user, and are not a cheat-proof hosted ledger. They never move RuneScape items or interact with Jagex services.
The Settings tab can reopen the guided setup and exports/imports all shareable options as a versioned compact code. Legacy CBC1 codes from v0.4.0 still import. Settings codes never include collection progress, account information, or credentials.
The bottom of the Cardbound panel includes a Patreon support footer. It intentionally displays Patreon • Coming Soon and remains disabled until an official Cardbound Patreon page exists; no unverified or placeholder account is opened. Once the real page is created, its URL can be added to CardboundPanel.PATREON_URL, which opens it through RuneLite's LinkBrowser.
Extract the complete group ZIP, then double-click DOUBLE-CLICK-TO-START.bat. It checks Java, runs the automated test suite, and starts a RuneLite development client with Cardbound loaded.
From source, run:
.\gradlew.bat runFor Jagex Accounts, follow RuneLite's official development-login instructions:
https://github.com/runelite/runelite/wiki/Using-Jagex-Accounts
Never share .runelite/credentials.properties. Each tester should use their own computer or separately configured development client and control their character manually.
After login, wait for the live catalogue to finish building, then test:
- Open the one-time 20-card starter and confirm the rip/reveal animation.
- Open the centered pack table, browse all four pack types, and confirm each wrapper, tier, quantity, and price.
- Gain a level and confirm the chat message and credit increase.
- Obtain a locked item, bank it, and confirm collection remains allowed while use is blocked and greyed.
- Test Input only and Input + output processing with a raw food or grimy herb family.
- Check a locked combat NPC, pet, and Slayer master.
- Filter the Binder by Collected, Missing, tags, and quantity; inspect a card at large size.
- In Quests, filter missing cards to zero, open quest details, and verify card/skill/prerequisite information.
- Open multiple packs, select a duplicate in the Binder, verify its exact sale value, then test Sell All Duplicates.
- Test the applicable standard/GIM/solo-Iron trading behavior from a selected Binder card. For GIM, exchange binder snapshots and test Off, Holo-only, and All-card teammate unlock modes.
- Pop out the Binder, resize it, and confirm wide and tall item sprites stay inside the artwork area at every window size.
- Buy a pack below its recommended total level, verify the warning and its Don't Warn option, then test the optional hard lock.
- Test Collector, Equipment, Equipment+teleport, Fully Cardbound, and Custom presets in both Block and Warn-only enforcement.
- Export settings on one client and import them on another; confirm all gameplay and presentation choices match.
Only the user can confirm in-game behavior. Automated tests and a clean JVM start do not constitute an in-game pass.
