Describe the package
I'd like to request this TSC patch that cachyOS uses as well, due to the current implementation (not OGC exclusive) being buggy on some hardware. This primarily affects some Lenovo Legion laptops.
By default, these devices will use HPET as the clocksource. TSC will be unavailable as KVM and the kernel will report issues with its calculations. While on paper it doesn't sound so bad, in reality there's performance left on the table. This can cause issues like some games stuttering more than the usual or have unusual bugs (Things that I found are : Risk of rain 2 taking a whole lot more to load, Death Stranding Director's Cut stuttering like crazy in menus, Call of Duty Black Ops 1 having more stutters than the usual etc)
This patch is needed to fix issues and improve the device's performance and overall system stability. (yes, affected devices that don't default to TSC will have to use TSC=directsync as a GRUB launch parameter.)
Sadly, forcing TSC with the current implementation (without using this patch) will cause anomalies. The ones I have seen are: Games having audio stuttering & animations glitching out.
While these tests were done on Fedora and CachyOS respectively, Bazzite could benefit from this too.
I do also understand that this may not be up to the "mainstream standard", but as I previously mentioned, affected devices have to deal with broken features or switch distributions/kernels.
