    I think that's an older driver, and that board using kernel 4.9.x

    can you instead try:

    BR2_PACKAGE_LINUX_FIRMWARE_OPENIPC_RTL_8188EU=y
    BR2_PACKAGE_RTL8188EUS_OPENIPC=y

    Hi @zerog2k

    I'm facing the same problem when building hi3518ev100 firmware.
    I tried the option BR2_PACKAGE_LINUX_FIRMWARE_OPENIPC_RTL_8188EU and BR2_PACKAGE_RTL8188EUS_OPENIPC, but it still gives compile errors.

    Closing as stale. The suggestion above (use rtl8188eus-openipc instead of the old 8188eu driver) never got an answer, and the compile log is from a 2023 tree. The driver is now BR2_PACKAGE_RTL8188EUS_OPENIPC in general/package/rtl8188eus-openipc. No gk7205v200 defconfig enables it, so CI doesn't build it for that kernel.

    If it still fails on current master, comment here with the board, the defconfig lines you added, and the build log from the first error:, and we will reopen it.
