A magic mod about hextech crystals, essences and runes.
After a thunderstorm you find your first hextech crystals. Then you work out what everything in the world is made of and build tools and machines that run on it. The more magic you use near your base, the sicker the land around it gets.
300+ blocks and items · 22 essences · 60+ runes · 4 levels of gear · 1 dimension
The mod is still in development, and a lot more is planned.
Everything breaks down into essences. Coal is mostly fire, seeds are mostly life. I boil things in the alembic,
keep what comes out in jars and move it around with brass pipes.
I find rune scrolls in dungeon chests, and sometimes I work one out myself while researching.
Steles around the rune circle burn them into tools and machines. My pickaxe smelts ore now and can see it through stone.
Pylons carry items into chests, the reaper harvests the field around it, and the sawmill cuts trees
and plants new ones. They all run on essence from the jars nearby.
I think I used too much magic around the house. The grass is going grey, there's a purple haze in the evenings,
and a few days ago a rift opened behind the barn. I haven't decided yet whether to close it or see what happens if I feed it.
Iron with a crystal in it was only the start. Then came charged hexsteel, then an alloy that keeps glowing after a night on the Hexcore,
and at last a metal brought back from the Void. Every new set of armour holds more runes than the one before.
Once the breach was held, I stepped through. There is no ground in there, only old shells drifting in a violet haze,
trees made of sinew and something that watches from the dark. The gate home stays open behind me. I won't stay long.
I write down every step in my diary so I don't forget anything.
Craft the Researcher's Diary (book + amethyst shard + feather); it shows what to do next and the recipe for it. The first hextech crystals are under the glassy fulgurite marks on the surface, where an old lightning strike left a geode. Most devices are researched at the Research Table before they can be made. In creative mode everything is in the Pocky Mods tab.
For modpack makers: every recipe is an ordinary data-driven recipe type (hextale:hex_crafting, hextale:infusion,
...), so data packs and KubeJS can change them; materials go by
c: tags, machines and the Void respect claims, quests get advancement triggers. Working with essence slowly sickens the
land around a base (the Thinning); thinning = false in hextale-synced.toml turns it off. Everything is in
the modpack guide. Free to use in any modpack.
