| Gravity | 3.71 m/s² (a little over a third of Earth's) |
| Arrival height | Y 300 |
| Air | None. You need a spacesuit or a sealed room. |
| Cost from Earth Orbit | 1 300 m/s (via Mars Orbit: 1 000 + 300) |
| Cost from the Earth's surface | 2 800 m/s |
| Cost back to Mars Orbit / Earth Orbit / the Earth | 400 / 900 / 1 100 m/s |
Mars is a red, dry, airless desert with underground crystal geodes and a buried research outpost.
- Mars Plains is the surface biome. The ground is Mars Surface Regolith over Mars Regolith over Mars Stone. The world has no oceans or lakes.
- Mars Cave is the underground biome, where the nickel sulfate geodes generate.
- Cave carvers cut tunnels through the stone.
Both biomes are airless. The Mars biomes define no mob spawns.
| Resource | Notes |
|---|---|
| Mars Stone | The base rock. Crushing it gives Mars Regolith. |
| Mars Regolith | Washing it gives chances at cobalt (12.5 % for 3 nuggets), nickel (8 % for 3) and aluminium (4 % for 3). This is a way to get cobalt without a diamond pickaxe. |
| Nickel Sulfate geodes | A shell of Crimsite and Veridium around crystals. Break the clusters for Nickel Sulfate Shards, the key ingredient of the Nickel Sulfate Catalyst. See Resources and Materials. |
The Underground Outpost: a buried base in Mars Plains with seven barrels, each holding the Catalyse Cycle design blueprint and 2 to 6 cobalt ingots. See Structures and Loot.
- Without a full suit and a charged oxygen backtank you take 2 health points of damage per second. See Life Support.
- Rockets landing here fall at about 9.2 blocks per second.
- Fall damage is scaled down to 38 % (3.71 ÷ 9.81).
