Summary

  • Change take_first_char(..., N::Int64) to ::Integer so it matches Int on 32-bit hosts
  • Fixes x86 CI MethodError: take_first_char(::SubString{String}, ::Int32)

Test plan

  • Ubuntu x86 Core lane green
  • Existing print/human-readable tests still pass on x64

Made with Cursor

n_char_per_name is Int (Int32 on i686); the Int64-only method never matched.

CI is green and this PR is merge-ready (mergeStateStatus: CLEAN). It fixes a hard-failing 32-bit (arch = "x86") lane on the default branch — please merge when convenient.

x86 Core is green on this PR. Merge when convenient — unblocks SciML 32-bit CI parity (no architecture-specific hard fails).
