Summary

MinIO's server is archived; this switches object storage to Silo (pgsty/silo), the maintained community fork.

  • One pinned image, pgsty/silo:RELEASE.2026-09-16T00-00-00Z (SILO_IMAGE_TAG), now runs both the minio storage service and the createbuckets job, since Silo bundles a compatible mc. Used in production compose, dev compose and the dev.sh test infrastructure.
  • The minio service and minio_data volume keep their names, so http://minio:9000 and every existing install stay valid.
  • MINIO_* variables, ports 9000/9001, health checks and bucket setup are unchanged.
  • MINIO_IMAGE_TAG and MC_IMAGE_TAG are replaced by SILO_IMAGE_TAG. An old MINIO_IMAGE_TAG can't point Silo at a tag that doesn't exist.

Verification

  • Existing data carries over: a volume written by MinIO RELEASE.2025-09-07 (the previous pin) was started under Silo. Buckets, both object versions, the versioning setting, the public-read policy and anonymous downloads were all intact, with no migration step.
  • Bucket setup: every createbuckets command (alias, mb --ignore-existing, version enable, anonymous set none|download) works in the Silo image, as do /minio/health/live, /minio/health/ready and mc ready.
  • Tests: 279 storage and compose tests pass against a live Silo — evidence presign/finalize, public images, document storage, the bucket reconciler, backup host scripts, and the env/compose drift guards.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Silo is the maintained MinIO fork with the same S3 API, MINIO_* variables,
ports and on-disk layout. One pinned image serves the storage service and
bucket setup (it bundles mc). The minio service and minio_data volume keep
their names, so existing installs reuse their objects untouched (verified:
buckets, versions, versioning and the public-read policy survive).
