With help of Codex, I refactored the utils helper function to execute privileged commands with sudo (authentication for which is then immediately reset as good practice). I also removed code related to OS saved state, which is causing VRAM to be set to 1GB upon restart due to default VRAM flag of "0" getting clamped to 1 when read from saved states.
