Rewrites the RAG chatbot example to retrieve answers from local Markdown documents instead of a hardcoded knowledge base, and aligns the quick-start docs with what the app generator actually produces.
The retriever now scans documents/*.md, splits files by Markdown heading, ranks sections by keyword overlap, and returns the top three matches with their source file and heading.
Matched { source, section } entries are stored in the operation context under references and included in the text sent to the model.
Adds sample documents and unit tests for the Markdown search, and updates the example README so citations point to the new files.
Written for commit d9a8eee. Summary will update on new commits.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
The RAG chatbot example now searches local Markdown documents and uses relevant sections to answer questions. Answers include references to their source documents, and the example reports when no matching content is found.
Documentation
Updated setup guidance to require Node.js 20 or newer and explain where to add provider API keys when skipping the setup prompt.
Added details about the chatbot’s document search and references, plus introductory information about agents, tools, and workflows.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title "Rag markdown retrieval" matches the main change. The PR replaces the hardcoded knowledge base in the RAG chatbot example with a retriever that searches local Markdown documents, splits them by heading, and ranks sections by keyword overlap. The title is short and specific. It does not name the example or the docs changes, which is acceptable because it covers the primary change.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description keeps the full repository template, but most template fields are still empty. All checklist items are unchecked, including linked issues, tests, docs, and changesets. The "What is the current behavior?" and "What is the new behavior?" sections have no content. The "fixes (issue)" line has no issue number. The auto-generated cubic summary does describe the change in general terms, but the author did not complete the required sections.
Resolution
Complete the template sections. Link the related issue in place of the "(issue)" placeholder, or state that no issue exists. Describe the current behavior, where the chatbot uses a hardcoded knowledge base and the quick-start docs do not match the generator. Describe the new behavior, where the retriever searches Markdown files in documents/ and returns the top three matches. Update the checklist to show which items apply. State whether tests and docs were added. The test file src/markdown-search.test.mjs and the updated READMEs suggest these are done, but the checklist must reflect that. Confirm whether a changeset was added, and add one if the package changes need a release note.

Extract text from message content arrays.
If the agent supplies a valid BaseMessage[] whose final user message contains text parts, this code replaces the message text with "". Search then returns no matches for a question that the documents answer. Extract and join text parts before calling searchMarkdown. AI SDK user-message content permits an array of text parts. Preserve content in Markdown files without headings.
When a .md file has no heading, this code treats its first line as a title. A one-line document then has empty content and cannot appear in search results. The example permits users to add .md files without requiring headings. Keep the full section as content when the first line is not a heading. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the section parsing around `heading`, `title`, and `content` to
distinguish actual Markdown headings from ordinary first lines. When the first
line is not a heading, keep the full trimmed section as `content` and use
`filename` as the title; preserve the existing title and body behavior for
sections with headings.

Document .env creation for cloned projects.
The Installation section supports cloning a project, but this line only covers projects created by the generator. The {{envConfig}} block does not create .env, so cloned projects can start without the provider API key. Tell users to create .env manually when they use the clone path. The template documents both paths. (github.com)

Update the API-key setup note in the Installation section to distinguish the two
paths: `create-voltagent-app` creates `.env`, while users who cloned the project
must create `.env` manually before adding their provider API key.

Align the Node.js version requirements.
The Quick Start says Node.js 20 or newer, but the generated README still shows a >=22 badge while its prerequisite says 20+. The repository and create-voltagent-app package both declare Node.js >=20, so the badge is misleading. Update the template badge to >=20 or use one version consistently across the setup documents. Update the Node.js version badge in the generated README template to show >=20,
matching the Quick Start prerequisite and the repository’s declared requirement.
