Queries decode only the details and sketches they need.
Partial updates preserve untouched entries as stored bytes.
Small retained slices no longer keep large disk buffers alive.
Corrupt counts are rejected before potentially huge allocations.
The journal version now correctly accounts for its embedded rollup format.
