Darren Ehlers

Founding Mobile Engineer at Main Event. 20+ years mobile. 40+ years software.

What I work on: Multi-platform mobile architecture at solo-to-team scale, with AI-augmented development teams handling implementation, testing, and review across iOS, Android, and Firebase middleware.

What I think about publicly:

  • AI as a compiler. AI tooling is the next layer of compilation, not a replacement for engineers. The job is the same; the tools are different.
  • The factory model. A software org is now a coordinated set of specialized AI departments led by a human operator, not a chatbot trying to do everything.
  • The Quiet Return of Engineers. The second wave of AI tooling is calling engineers back to design, architecture, and judgment work. The skill is more valuable than ever, not less.
