Three things stacked on dev since #435:

  • Firmware / Features as a pair of tabs. Both /editions and /features open with the same header; the current page is the title, the other a dimmed link of the same size. Same two routes, so deep links and search are untouched.
  • Try-out images on the features page. The clock and the USB-MIDI build are not on the shelf; their rows now carry a frozen image and an "Install to try" button that works the way the shelf's install does (the panel's own /update?src= page). clock-v0.1.5 is back from the v3.10.2 tag, midi-v0.1.0 is a clean shelf.sh build from today. check_versions.py reads the try-out folders from features-data.ts; AGENTS, RELEASING, EDITIONS, bundles/README and the changelog say what "frozen" means.
  • slowrush's build joins the map: an orange Patternflow in a UK garden, built on a v3 board xponentone had spare.

Verified in the dev server (both widths, hydration clean in a fresh tab), typecheck, lint on the touched files, check_versions.py, and the map's vitest suite.

… was.

The shelf pointed at the features page with a sentence at the end of its
lede, which is easy to read past; the features page pointed back the same
way. Now both pages open with the same header: "Firmware Features", the
current one the h1, the other a link in the same size, dimmed, so the other
view is one click away and impossible to miss. Two routes still - deep
links and search are untouched - this is only the way between them.

The link carries the title's own class, so it is set exactly like the h1
at every width, the phone size included; its own rule only dims it. The
sentence in the shelf's lede goes, the lede ending where it did before.

Verified in the dev server: same size and baseline on both pages at 1200
and 375 px wide, no horizontal overflow, and the click goes each way.
Typecheck and lint clean.

…page.

Neither is on the shelf - the clock is a feature, the MIDI bundle is the
composition that proves the USB-OTG build - and until now trying either
meant building it. Their rows now carry a frozen image and an "Install to
try" button that installs it the way the shelf installs a live one: a
link to the panel's own /update page with the image URL, the browser
doing the fetch and the POST, the device address the one the shelf and
the deck panel already share.

Frozen means frozen. clock-v0.1.5 is back from the v3.10.2 tag as it
shipped; midi-v0.1.0 is built clean from the tree today with shelf.sh,
which now says a try-out image is staged and retired like a shelf image
but named from features-data.ts instead of a card. The row says the rest
once: the image is the whole firmware as it was, core included, nobody
bumps it when the core moves, patterns and Wi-Fi and settings stay, and
the way back is one click on the shelf.

check_versions.py reads the try-out urls from features-data.ts, requires
each image to exist, and counts its folder as named - so "the shelf holds
only what is named" still holds. AGENTS.md, RELEASING.md, ARCHITECTURE.md
and the changelog say the same.

Verified: typecheck, lint and check_versions clean; the dev server serves
the images with the CORS and immutable headers the /update page needs,
and both rows render the block with the install link.

A first build on a v3 board xponentone had spare and sent over, plain by
the maker's own account except for the colour, which is the point: a
fresh orange among the flowers. Three photos - the flower bed, the
doorstep and the clock at night - resized to the map's 2000 px long side
with orientation applied and metadata dropped. Pinned at the country's
centre, since the country is all we were given.
