A macOS app for finding app leftovers, cleaning caches and uninstalling software.
Requires macOS 15.6 or later. Supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
brew tap gasanache/tap https://github.com/gasanache/Sweep
brew install --cask gasanache/tap/sweepOr download the signed, notarized DMG and drag Sweep to Applications.
Update with brew upgrade --cask sweep or download the latest release.
- Scan for app leftovers, caches, logs, developer data and startup items.
- Review the selected files before moving them to Trash.
- Use Maintenance for Xcode, package caches, project caches and recovery history.
- Inspect app permissions, local models and disk usage.
Removal shows the current item and progress. Cancel Remaining stops pending work; completed moves stay in Trash. Restore Last Batch recovers supported files without overwriting existing files.
When needed, Open Full Disk Access takes you to the macOS settings for protected folders. Enable Sweep, reopen it and rescan.
Trash still uses disk space. Package removal, simulator deletion and permission resets are separate actions that cannot be undone through Trash. Shared, active or uncertain data is retained.
Open Sweep.xcodeproj in Xcode 26 or later, or build with your configured Developer ID signing identity:
./build.shThe app is saved to dist/Sweep.app. The optional SweepCLI scheme provides read-only scans and reports.
xcodebuild test -project Sweep.xcodeproj -scheme Sweep \
-destination 'platform=macOS' CODE_SIGNING_ALLOWED=NO
./Scripts/verify.sh --compile-only
./Scripts/verify-workflows.shGPL-3.0. Some workflow ideas were inspired by PureMac; no code or assets were copied.
