GitButler plugin for Claude Code

Teaches Claude Code to use the GitButler CLI (but) for version control: commits, selective hunk commits, branches, stacks, diffs, PRs, history edits, and undo.

What's included

• Skill — the GitButler CLI skill (SKILL.md + references), the same content but skill install ships.
• SessionStart hook — if but is not on your PATH, Claude offers to install it (curl -fsSL https://gitbutler.com/install.sh | sh). Silent when the CLI is present.

Install

This repository is a generated artifact. The skill content is synced from gitbutlerapp/gitbutler (crates/but/skill/) on each GitButler release — please do not edit it here; changes belong in the main repository.

If you already installed the skill via but skill install, prefer one copy or the other: having both the standalone skill and this plugin installed puts two near-identical skills in context.
