A follow-up to #518, from installing and running the Windows app end to end.

Toast logo

#518 wrote the toast's logo to the app's cache directory under %LOCALAPPDATA%. Windows still left it out.

Testing toasts one at a time showed a pattern. A picture under the user's AppData was never drawn, whether it sat in Local, Roaming or Temp, even with read access granted to app containers. The same file under ProgramData, Pictures or C:\ always was.

The app now keeps the copy at %ProgramData%\ai.humanfia.humanize\logo.png, which every account reads. The uninstaller removes it, except on an update.

Update alert

The Restart / Later alert had two problems:

  • Caption: it read humanize, the crate's name. It now reads Humanize Desktop.
  • Icon: it showed Windows' information icon. A note now shows the app's own icon (resource IDI_APPLICATION, which tauri-build gives it), as on macOS. A failure keeps Windows' error icon.

Tested on Windows 11 with WSL Debian

Run against an installed build, with a local release signed by a throwaway updater key:

  • A toast posted from the page shows the mark.
  • The update alert shows the mark and the title "Humanize Desktop".
  • Restart installs 0.2.3 and relaunches the app.
  • Later, then Quit from the tray, installs 0.2.3 as the app quits. hmz web stops with exit code 0.
  • cargo fmt, clippy -D warnings and cargo test (36) pass on Windows.

Windows left the picture out of a toast when it was kept under the user's AppData, so the copy
now goes to ProgramData, which every account reads, and the uninstaller takes it back.
The update's alert was captioned humanize, the crate's name, beside Windows' information icon.
It is now captioned with the app's name, and a note shows the app's own icon, as on macOS; a
failure keeps Windows' error icon.
