The maintenance policy still said the 3.x line was pre-release and that 2.x held `latest`. 3.0.0 shipped and moved the tag; `npm view` is the authority and it says `latest: 3.0.0`. Two known limitations were missing, and both are ones a consumer hits rather than reads about: `Editors` has no change events, so subscribing still means raw `vscode` and a hand-rolled dispose; and the framework does no log-level filtering, because VS Code owns a LogOutputChannel's level and an extension cannot raise its own. `quality` also runs format:check, which the contributing note omitted.
