Updates rust_xlsxwriter from 0.96.0 to 0.101.0

Changelog

Sourced from rust_xlsxwriter's changelog.

[0.101.0] - 2026-10-21

Changed

  • Breaking change: Changed XlsxError::TempFileError(String) error that was added in the previous release to XlsxError::TempFileError(PathBuf, std::io::Error) so that the temporary directory and the underlying io::Error are available to the caller. The io::Error is also returned by Error::source(). See [Issue #213].

    [Issue #213]: jmcnamara/rust_xlsxwriter#213

Added

  • Also added Error::source() support for the XlsxError::IoError, XlsxError::ZipError and XlsxError::PolarsError variants. This allows the underlying cause, such as the io::Error in a ZipError::Io error, to be accessed via the standard error source chain.

[0.100.0] - 2026-10-17

Changed

  • Breaking change: The Workbook::add_worksheet_with_constant_memory() and Workbook::add_worksheet_with_low_memory() methods now return a Result instead of panicking if a temporary file can't be created, for example if the temporary directory isn't writable. A new XlsxError::TempFileError error was added for this. The tempfile is also only created when it is needed rather than when the worksheet is created, and standard worksheets no longer create one. See [Issue #195].

    [Issue #195]: jmcnamara/rust_xlsxwriter#195

  • Updated the [Performance] docs with new benchmark results. The standard rust_xlsxwriter is now around 1.6 times faster than the C version, mainly due to performance improvements in the zip crate and its default zlib-rs backend.

Added

  • Updated the zip dependency to v9.0. All previous v8.x zip versions were yanked upstream. See [Issue #205].

    [Issue #205]: jmcnamara/rust_xlsxwriter#205

  • Added the Workbook::set_zip_compression_level() method to set the compression level of the xlsx zip container in the range 1 to 9. The default level is 6. Lower levels are faster and higher levels produce smaller files.

Updates sevenz-rust2 from 0.22.2 to 0.24.1

Changelog

Sourced from sevenz-rust2's changelog.

0.24.1 - 2026-10-18

  • Bumped lzma-rust2 to 0.23.

0.24.0 - 2026-10-11

Changed

  • Bumped lzma-rust2 to 0.22.

Added

  • ArchiveWriter::push_raw_block, which copies a block of an existing archive into the one being written without decoding it, under new entry names. Renaming an entry, dropping one, or adding to an archive no longer means re-encoding the rest of it.

Fixed

  • Writing packed streams of which only some have a CRC wrote which ones did, but not their CRCs, leaving an archive neither this crate nor 7-Zip could open. A CRC of 0 was also taken for a missing one.

0.23.0 - 2026-09-18

Changed

  • Bumped zstd to 0.14.
  • Bumped lzma-rust2 to 0.21.

Added

  • LzmaOptions::set_nice_len, LzmaOptions::set_dictionary_size and Lzma2Options::set_nice_len.
  • EncoderConfiguration can be built from LzmaOptions with into().

Fixed

  • PPMd compression now produces archives accepted by 7-Zip and reports output errors when finalizing encrypted entries.
  • Reject unsupported LZMA and LZMA2 encoder dictionary sizes with an error before allocating the encoder or starting compression workers, avoiding capacity-overflow panics.
  • Improved decompression performance for non-solid 7z archives containing many files.

0.2.190

There is now a single config for enabling 64-bit time_t: libc_unstable_time64. This can be set unconditionally; it opts in to 64-bit time_t on the following platforms that use 32-bit by default:

  • 32-bit Linux-GNU
  • 32-bit Linux-uClibc
  • 32-bit Linux-musl. Note that setting this flag also enables some other changes that happend in musl v1.2.
  • 32-bit Windows-GNU
  • ESP-IDF (all targets with this environment are 32-bit)

Most other 32-bit platforms are either already using 64-bit time_t, or are considered legacy and will not be gaining support from their upstream maintainers.

You can enable this using RUSTFLAGS:

RUSTFLAGS='--cfg=libc_unstable_time64' cargo ...

Note that there may still be some changes to features gated by this config option, hence "unstable"
