Haumea was drawn with 1,444 faces (32 bands of 48), three times the 452 (16 of 32) every other globe uses, and a dataset switch repaints every face: 177 to 225 ms on an iPad. It now uses 16 bands of 32. Its flat faces sit at most 2.19 px from the true ellipsoid at rest, as a sphere's do on the same mesh (2.20 px); they sat 0.77 px before. Its download goes from 5.31 MB to 4.31 MB.

Proves the change: iPad, longest frame of a dataset switch: 177-225 ms to 47-106 ms (repeat visits 180-190 to 47-73). iPad screenshots at rest and after each switch, before and after, show a whole body.

Clean: typecheck, the bake's presentation tests (64 pass), Haumea's presentation audit in its bake.

Limits: the outline is coarser by the 1.4 px above; no phone measured.

  • Prepared assets published.
