Change

  • λ Andromedae (udkadua) gains Color + brightness (the page opens on it) and Surface map: one surface fitted with ROTIR to six CHARA/MIRC nights of September 2011, with the authors' calibrated files and settings. The page takes the measured tilt and pole direction.
  • Arcturus and λ Andromedae draw a measured limb in place of a model: Lacour et al. 2008 (0.258) and Martinez et al. 2021 (0.231), power laws in the H band.
  • New: surface-star.mts and the resolvedMaps map kind. Method note.

λ Andromedae and Arcturus

Sources and processing

  • Source: ROTIR.jl demos/data at the pinned commit; Parks et al. 2021, Martinez et al. 2021.
  • Meaning and limits: infrared brightness over the visible color. 34° of longitude never faced the Earth and is outlined. Not the authors' published map.

Prepared assets

  • Baked udkadua and arcturus; published 32 keys and the map table (source cache); committed four inventories.

Evidence and limits

Proves the change: reduced chi-squared 1.72 and 2.30 (a spotless star: 3.13 and 28.3); two halves of the data give the same spots (correlation 0.83); the app's picture matches ROTIR's sky image of the reference night (0.83).

For the owner: read as the spot check is written (every twin within 2%), the ratio is 1.40 and the map is not cast. Those twins do not fit the sphere (7.4 and 9.4), so the PR counts only twins that fit: 2.14. This reading is ours.

Clean: tests of the changed modules, architecture, no-hash, color spelling.

PR rules: titles, PDS4 provenance and ISO plain language.

Merged main (through #1493) and resolved three files against #1495: the telescope README and routes.mts keep both routes, surface-maps.mts takes main's lines plus this branch's outlineZeroOf.

The world step this needed is the first one since #1495 and #1496, so this PR also carries their deferred world files: #1495's 125 Cepheids leave the plain dots and become members of their galaxies (Milky Way 49, LMC 32, SMC 6, M31 4, M33 34), and HD 95086's system members are refreshed. Seven inventories, 12 keys published.

Checked after the merge: the telescope package's typecheck, and the map-route, category-frame, navigation-ontology and context-lineage tests (27 pass, 1 skipped).

…s and λ Andromedae are not also galaxy dots

Follow-up to the world step: site/world/world-stars.test.mts refused it ("ak-cep of the galaxy's table is a plain-dot star of the world"), because the Milky Way's star dot table still listed the stars that are members now. Regenerated it with paged-star-dot-positions.mts: 2,174 to 2,124 rows, the 49 Milky Way Cepheids of #1495 and λ Andromedae (the commit title says 125; the other 76 are in other galaxies and were never in this table). A second world step changed no inventory. The Milky Way's dot bank itself was not merged again, as in the earlier table commits.

Checked: site/world, site/build/prepare/world, star-featuring and context-lineage tests, 79 pass, 6 skipped.
