Summary

  • Surfaces a clearer install/update hint when the t3 CLI SEA fails to exec on Oracle UEK8 kernels (ENOEXEC from oversized PT_NOTE).
  • Documents the issue's verified workaround in the shared hint path: cap the installed binary's PT_NOTE p_filesz at 4 MB (reapply after every update), alongside RHCK and the from-source node apps/server/dist/bin.mjs path.
  • Linux installer smoke failures always print that guidance; some shells swallow ENOEXEC and leave no diagnostic text to match.

Fixes pingdotgg#12628

Test plan

  • Repro path: UEK8 / note blob > kernel limit → exec fails with ENOEXEC
  • Hint text appears in CLI update/install error path and names the PT_NOTE p_filesz cap
  • CI green

Notes

Tiny reliability/docs-adjacent fix only; no new user docs page (AGENTS.md: default no docs). The PT_NOTE workaround lives in the shared hint, a nearby code comment, the installer diagnostic, and the existing Oracle Linux install note.

Oracle UEK8 returns ENOEXEC for the Node SEA because its PT_NOTE is larger than 4 MB. The npm launcher, the legacy launcher, and install.sh now print the RHCK, p_filesz, and from-source hint, and the installer smoke test leaves the executable's stderr attached.
