GitHub release source tarballs contain no
.gitdirectory, so CMake falls back toversion.txt— which does not exist, making tarball builds fail with a fatal configure error. This addsversion.txt(v0.6.0) ahead of tagging the v0.6.0 release, so packagers can build straight from the tarball.Git builds are unaffected: the tag from
git describestill takes precedence.
