Hi, I'm Humberto Bernasconi 👋

I'm a biotech engineer, innovation project manager and open-source enthusiast from Chile.
My work connects applied science, I+D+i project management, Linux-based workflows, web tools and AI-assisted development.

I use GitHub as a space to build, document and experiment with practical tools that solve real problems in productivity, local computing, automation and technical workflows.

What I'm interested in

  • Applied biotechnology, innovation and R&D project management
  • Linux, self-hosted tools and local-first applications
  • Web apps that run locally or connect the browser with system resources
  • AI-assisted development and productivity workflows
  • Tools for technical users, researchers, entrepreneurs and project managers
  • Open-source utilities for learning, documentation and everyday work

Current focus

I'm currently exploring tools that combine:

  • Terminal-based workflows
  • Browser-based interfaces
  • Local applications
  • AI-assisted coding
  • Automation for productivity and project management

Featured projects

webtmux

A password-protected web terminal for persistent tmux sessions using Express, Socket.IO, node-pty and xterm.js.

This project reflects one of my main interests: using the browser as a practical interface for local Linux tools.

kindle-mobi-converter

A web app to convert EPUB, PDF and other ebook formats to MOBI for Kindle using Calibre.

This project is part of my interest in building simple, useful local tools that solve everyday problems.

Background

I have more than 10 years of experience in innovation, applied R&D, technology transfer and project development, especially in biotechnology, health, food, aquaculture and scientific entrepreneurship.

My professional background includes:

  • I+D+i project formulation and management
  • Public and private funding for innovation projects
  • Technology transfer and applied research
  • Biotech product development
  • Scientific entrepreneurship and early-stage ventures
  • University-industry collaboration

Tech stack and tools

Linux · JavaScript · Node.js · Express · Socket.IO · tmux · xterm.js · Git · Markdown

Also interested in:

Python · local-first apps · automation · AI tools · self-hosted software · web-based interfaces

What I'm building toward

I want to create open-source tools that are practical, modifiable and useful for people who work with technology, science, innovation and knowledge management.

My goal is to connect technical development with real-world use cases: not only writing code, but building tools that help people work better.
