Implementing a Robust Data-Driven Pipeline for High-Value User Signals

When managing large-scale customer databases, prioritizing operational resources for premium members is a common challenge. Marketing and support teams often look for ways to segment their CRM to ensure that high-priority accounts receive timely attention. The High-Value Users signal from NumDetect provides a mechanism for this segmentation by identifying records based on premium-device characteristics and recent network activity.

Understanding the Signal Boundary

It is critical to maintain a clear distinction between an operational signal and financial or identity verification. The High-Value Users signal is an indicator for prioritization—it is not, and should not be used as, proof of income, assets, identity, or purchase intent.

Implementation Checklist

  • Operational Scope: Ensure the signal is used strictly for internal routing, service prioritization, or campaign segmentation.
  • Prohibition of High-Impact Decisions: Confirm that the signal is never the sole basis for decisions regarding credit, employment, housing, insurance, or other high-impact outcomes.
  • Data Handling: Keep API keys secure on your server-side environment; they must never be exposed in client-side code or public repositories.
  • Constraint Verification: Ensure the input file contains between 1,000 and 100,000 E.164 numbers, all from a single ISO country or region, excluding China mainland.

Technical Workflow and Testing

NumDetect operates as an asynchronous bulk workflow. Because this is not a real-time, single-number lookup, your pipeline should be architected to handle the task lifecycle:

  1. Task Submission: Use the POST /api/v1/bulk-tasks endpoint to submit your file.
  2. Monitoring: Poll the status of your task using GET /api/v1/bulk-tasks/{id}. Monitor for the completed state before attempting to retrieve results.
  3. Result Integration: Once the task reaches the completed state, download the result file. The payload will return a result field (e.g., "result": "yes") associated with the mobile_number.

Testing and Sandboxing

Before deploying to production, validate your integration using a controlled test set:

  • Contract Testing: Verify that your parser correctly handles the expected JSON structure returned by the task result files.
  • Local Validation: Use a representative sample file to confirm that your CRM mapping logic correctly assigns the result flag to the appropriate user records.
  • Error Handling: Implement robust logic for handling non-completed statuses, ensuring your pipeline does not attempt to process incomplete or failed task files.

By treating the High-Value Users signal as a tool for operational prioritization rather than a verification of financial status, you can effectively segment your audience and improve service delivery.
