v0.23.0

   🧭 Migration Guide

Most users can upgrade directly. Before upgrading, run one final build with tsdown@0.22.14 and resolve all deprecation warnings.

  • config:
    • bundle: false → unbundle: true; bundle: true can be removed
    • outExtension → outExtensions
    • publicDir / --public-dir → copy / --copy
    • removeNodeProtocol: true → nodeProtocol: 'strip'
    • injectStyle → css.inject
  • deps:
    • inlineOnly / deps.onlyAllowBundle → deps.onlyBundle
    • skipNodeModulesBundle: true → deps.neverBundle: true
    • resolveDepSubpath now defaults to false; set it to true to preserve the previous behavior
  • dts:
    • rolldown-plugin-dts was upgraded from 0.27.13 to 0.28.5
    • dts.oxc: true → dts.generator: 'oxc'
    • dts.tsgo: true → dts.generator: 'tsgo'; oxc and tsgo objects now only configure their respective generators
    • dts.volarPlugins → dts.customLanguages; rename each language's create hook to createVolarPlugins
    • Custom languages, including vue, now throw when combined with an incompatible generator
    • dts.cjsReexport was removed; dual-format builds now generate CJS declarations in a separate pass
  • attw:
    • The default profile changed from strict to esm-only; set profile: 'strict' to preserve the previous checks
  • programmatic API:
    • build() now returns { bundles, watch }; replace const bundles = await build() with const { bundles } = await build()
  • requirements:
    • Node.js 25 is no longer supported; use ^22.18.0, ^24.11.0, or >=26.0.0
    • rolldown-plugin-dts now requires Rolldown 1.2.x
    • Legacy types and typesVersions fallbacks were removed; use TypeScript's bundler, node16, or nodenext module resolution

Codex review: needs changes before merge.

What this changes

Updates the development formatter, linter, and package builder to oxfmt 0.72.0, oxlint 1.87.0, and tsdown 0.23.0.

Example: A contributor installs development dependencies on Node 25.

  • Before: The supported tsdown 0.22.14 dependency graph permits installation.
  • After: The tsdown 0.23.0 dependency graph excludes Node 25, and the recorded installation job fails.

Review scores

Measure Result What it means
Overall readiness 🧂 unranked krab (1/6) The tooling refresh has useful value, but the confirmed supported-version installation blocker makes the patch unready.
Proof confidence 🦐 gold shrimp (3/6) Dependabot is exempt from the external-contributor proof gate. Exact-head CI exercises installation and package checks on Node 22/24, but Node 25 installation fails; detailed logs were inaccessible through the allowed network.
Patch quality 🧂 unranked krab (1/6) 1 actionable review finding remain.

Product

Kind: Maintenance · Worth it: Yes
User problem: Contributors benefit from current formatter and linter fixes while retaining installation on supported Node versions.
Reason: The formatter and linter refresh fits established tooling maintenance. Its value does not justify violating the explicitly preserved Node 25 compatibility contract.

Merge readiness

⛔ Needs changes before merge - 2 items remain

This PR retains useful tooling updates that are absent from current main, but the previously reported Node 25 installation regression remains unfixed.

Priority: P2

Before merge

  • [P1] Retain a builder compatible with supported Node 25 installs (P1) - On Node 25, this requirement selects tsdown 0.23.0 and locked rolldown-plugin-dts 0.28.6, whose engine ranges exclude that version. The repository declares Node 25 support and enables engineStrict; the exact-head Node 25 job fails during installation and skips the package check. Restore tsdown 0.22.14 and its compatible locked graph while retaining the formatter and linter updates, following build(deps): refresh Node types and cover Node 25 installs #52. This previously reported finding remains unfixed.
  • Explain or restore the original intent of package.json and pnpm-lock.yaml: builder dependency graph - 01c7a1b: Explicitly retain tsdown 0.22.14 because 0.23.0 excludes supported Node 25, and add CI coverage for that contract. The older manifest requirement traces to f4138d1; its patch is locally unavailable.

Findings

  • [P1] [P1] Retain a builder compatible with supported Node 25 installs — package.json:57

Provenance

  • package.json and pnpm-lock.yaml: builder dependency graph changes intended behavior without addressing why it exists (01c7a1b: Explicitly retain tsdown 0.22.14 because 0.23.0 excludes supported Node 25, and add CI coverage for that contract. The older manifest requirement traces to f4138d1; its patch is locally unavailable.)

Tests

  • Missing end-to-end proof: The changed tooling still lacks a successful Node 25 frozen installation followed by the full package check; the recorded job stops during installation.

How this fits together

These development tools format and lint the router source and build its published JavaScript and TypeScript declarations. They run during contributor checks and package preparation.

Technical review

Best possible solution:

Retain the formatter and linter refresh while preserving the established Node 25-compatible builder dependency graph.

Do we have a high-confidence way to reproduce the issue?

Not applicable to a current-main bug: this is dependency maintenance. The introduced compatibility defect is source-proven and supported by the exact-head Node 25 installation failure.

Is this the best way to solve the issue?

No: upgrading the builder violates the existing Node support contract; retaining its compatible graph is the narrow repair already used by prior merged updates.

Refresh oxfmt to 0.72.0, oxlint to 1.87.0, and the pinned Node setup action to 7.1.0. Consolidates the compatible updates proposed in #53 and #54 while retaining tsdown 0.22.14 for supported Node 25 installations.

Validation: frozen install and full package check on Linux/Node 24.19.0 (58 tests, build/declarations, typecheck, lint, formatting, package install/import); actionlint; independent Codex review without actionable P0-P2 findings; GitHub CI at the reviewed head.

Thanks for the updates. Landed the oxfmt 0.72.0 and oxlint 1.87.0 refresh in #55, with contributor credit. Retained tsdown 0.22.14 because 0.23.0 and its declaration-generator dependency exclude Node 25, which this repository explicitly supports under strict engine checks.

The replacement passed the full seven-job Node/OS matrix, including Node 25 frozen installation and package checks: https://github.com/openclaw/uirouter/actions/runs/38040322173. Closing this grouped update as superseded.
